Pastor Nate Gates is the lead pastor at Connect Church. God laid it on his heart to plant this church back in October of 2023. Since then, Nate has continued to seek the Lord and what He would have done with Connect Church. He would love to connect (see what we did there) over coffee to tell you more about the story of Connect Church.
Nate was born and raised in Sioux City, IA, with his mom, stepdad and three younger sisters. He began going to church and learning about God in the 4th grade, when he began attending with his mom. As he got older, he chased the things of the world, which only left him feeling empty, depressed and hopeless.
He went through a hard time in 2014 when he hit rock bottom. Through that situation, Nate surrendered his life to Christ and truly began following Him. Now he is married to Clarissa, has two beautiful daughters and the best dog in the world, Murphy.
In his free time, Nate likes to read and study Scripture, go to coffee shops on the search for the best americano, thrift shop with Clarissa and spend time with his family.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.

What are your hobbies outside of church?
Spending time in Scripture, coaching, going to coffee shops, thrift stores, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
If you were a pizza topping, what would you be and why?
Mushrooms. Why? Not everyone likes them, so it would be fun to see people's reaction when they eat them.
